This is totally random, but I thought I would throw it out into the stratosphere anyway. There are some movies that you can NOT just browse while channel surfing. The kind of movie that no matter how many times you’ve seen it, NO MATTER what scene it’s on you will sit there in a trance and watch it all the way to the end credits. They're usually long, action-packed adventures that suck you into the television and steals hours of your day, and arguably, a part of your soul.
Case in point: Die Hard. (by the way, the original movie is the only one I even acknowledge. The others in the franchise don’t exist.) I decided to sneak off to the gym for 2 hours and while getting ready, I had the TV playing in the background. As I prepared my bottled water, I heard the sound of gunfire and I made the fatal mistake of looking up. I catch that scene where Hans Gruber tells his goons to “Shoot the glass!” and Bruce Willis has to run barefoot through all that debris.
I’m on the couch, car keys in hand, my water bottle half full along with a bag of BBQ Fritos that materialized out of nowhere. Needless to say, my work out was ruined. Not many movies do that, but I make a point to turn off the ones that do if I plan on getting anything accomplished that day.
So I came up with the top 5 movies I simply can’t watch if I have something to do.
- Die hard
- Forest Gump
- The Color Purple
- Speed
- Ocean’s Eleven
In my case Braveheart and Legends of the Fall are 2 movies that I couldn't ignore if they are on TV no matter what the situation was or how many times I've seen them (mind you, they're 3 or 4 hours' long each yet I seat myself and keep watching, losing whatever I was supposed to do and not feeling the tiniest bit guilty). I also admire some of ur choices as Die Hard, Forrest Gump and Speed :)
ReplyDeleteMy trance movies would have to be Van Helsing, Queen of the Damned, Daddy's Little Girls, and Meet the Browns... They aren't on very often but when they are on I sit and watch! I love die hard and Forrest gump as well as speed... Those are some good movies!!
ReplyDeleteOoh! Braveheart is a good one. I've missed work over that one. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteTyler Perry movies only make me angry so I don't get into those very well. But Queen of the Damned? interesting...
I find that movie very entertaining!! Queen of the Damned is one of my favorite vampire movies along with the Underworld movies those catch my attention I think better than QotD... I forgot to put those down earlier!!
